Be the One Everyone Else Compares Themselves To
We've been one of the leading providers of artist websites at FASO for over 15 years now.
Over the years, we've had many competitors. New ones enter this market all the time. Some competitors have come and gone, while others are still around. I respect some of them, and others irritate us with underhanded practices. That's how it is in all industries.
Many, if not most, of the competitors in this space we call "artist websites" have at one point or another decided to compare themselves to FASO.
Sometimes, this has been in the form of an email they send prospective customers to tell the world why they're "better" than us.
Sometimes it's been in the form of a comparison chart on their website. These comparison charts are always designed to cherry pick things in a way to make us look "bad" and them look "good". There's one in particular that is still online. It has always been completely wrong and now, worse, hasn't been updated in about a decade. So literally everything on it is wrong.
Other times it's been in the form of "Reviews" which are obviously biased in the favor of the company writing the "review."
In our more than 15 years of being in this business, we've never once compared ourselves to any competitor. We haven't mentioned competitors in marketing emails. We haven't engaged in writing "Fake reviews", we don't have a competitor comparison chart on our website.
We know artists are smart, savvy business people who see right through such nonsense.
But, more importantly, we don't build our sites to please competitors, we build our product by being innovative, solving our customer's needs and generally by being original.
There's a reason everyone else compares themselves to us: We are the original. And we're the leader.
So that's my marketing message for you with your art and your art business.
Be original. Do you better than anyone else.
And be the one everyone else compares themselves to.
Sincerely,
Clint Watson
