Twas the Week Before Christmas on the Finest of Ships
The following poem is what you get when you have a creative mind and are stuck in the middle of the ocean without a decent internet connection or guitar. We needed some way to channel our creativity so when the ship left a survey in our cabin, instead of simply filling it out, we wrote a poem. Since it was a Christmas cruise, the verses are to be read to the rhythm of "Twas the night before Christmas." The items in bold are ship's crew members, or features of the ship itself. I post it here just as a way to archive it.
Twas the week before Christmas
On the Celebrity Eclipse
Twas the week before Christmas
On the finest of ships.
As we sailed the high seas on
the mighty Eclipse.
We had all prepared
for an adventure that's grand.
A wonderful Christmas
with steel drums and sand!
Captain Manetas navigates
the great ocean blue,
while cruise director Patti
plans fun things to do.
As we lounge by the pool
in the tropical heat.
Lundi quenches our thirst
with frozen treats that are neat.
Boris our butler
arrives at our door.
Usually at three,
but always by four.
He brings tasty treats
and tea that is hot.
It always is perfect,
it just hits the spot.
The Captain's Club hour
with Gabriella has class.
We love Gilson's smile as
he refreshes our glass.
As dinner approaches,
we prepare for the feast.
We begin the long trek,
to the aft of this beast!
We pause on the way,
we hear the most wondrous thing.
It's Sean Roach's voice as he
strums on six strings!
At QSINE for dinner, or
perhaps Tuscan Grill.
It's a magical journey that
gives our taste buds a thrill.
After dinner we arrive,
at our own cabin door.
We want to go on,
we're too weary for more!
We open the door,
and what do we find?
Our attendant Jose
has just blown our mind!
He adjusted the lights!
He turned down the bed!
That luxurious pillow
is calling our head!
And like Old Saint Nick,
he left us a gift!
A fine piece of chocolate,
gives our spirits a lift!
And up from above,
there arose such a clatter!
We grab those plush robes,
down the hallway we patter!
We race up the stairs,
taking two at a time,
finally reaching the top
of that arduous climb!
We burst out on deck,
and see a fiery glow!
Doesn't look like Saint Nick.
No reindeer! No snow!
We run to the glow and
we get there real fast.
We find three boisterous elves,
playing with glass!
They hammer and spin it,
they put on quite a show.
The crowd is amazed with
the glass that they blow! [1]
We return to our cabin
and lay down our head,
we can't help but think
of the journey ahead.
Saint Lucia, Saint Maarten,
and of course old Saint Nick!
We'll be meeting them all,
as we sail the Eclipse!
