Artists sometimes write me and blame their lack of sales on "the economy" as if that explains everything. I wonder: Is it really simply "the economy"? Or are there things these artists could be doing, but aren't, because they don't want to? Are there marketing channels these artists don't want to invest the time and energy learning? [...]

The following poem is what you get when you have a creative mind and are stuck in the middle of the ocean without a decent internet connection or guitar.  We needed some way to channel our creativity so when the ship left a survey in our cabin, instead of simply filling it out, we wrote a poem.  Since it was a Christmas cruise, the verses are to be read to the rhythm of "Twas the night before Christmas."  The items in bold are ship's crew members, or features of the ship itself.  I post it here just as a way to [...]
